As Azzarello's seemingly never ending opus began to at last approach some sort of a climax, most fans were more interested in DC's announcement that the publisher would be launching a new "digital first" comic featuring Wonder Woman, called "Sensation Comics" -in homage to her original anthology series. The new book would feature different creative teams and allow them to explore classic takes on the Amazon Princess, other than just the dark New 52 version, with the likes of Gail Simone and Phil Jiminez making a welcome return to this character.

As Hermes and Dionysus, who have been banished from the island of women, suddenly realise that the dead are now free from hades realm and are walking amongst the living unseen, Wonder Woman continues to explain to the doubting Amazons that by changing their ways before they go into battle then the survivors will be in a better place to build the Amazon race anew. Dessa is still unconvinced and steals Zola's baby. Meanwhile Hermes and Dionysus visit Hades only to find him stripped of his powers. Before they can discover what has happened however they are attacked by the Minotaur!
Back on Paradise Island Wonder Woman tracks down and confronts Dessa on a cliff top and tries to reason with her. Dessa only wants what is best for the Amazons and seems to relent, handing Diana the child. But she then throws herself over the edge. The Amazon Princess races down and saves her however, only to find that her friends Hephaestus, Eros and Aphrodite are waiting below, bringing Hephaestus' army of men to fight alongside the Amazons. But this good news is short lived when a bloodied Dionysus staggers into view and tells them that Hermes, from bloodied lips, begs their forgiveness and that he can no longer protect them...
